Authentic Schedule C
A genuine Schedule C filed with the IRS carries unmistakable markers. The document is clean, organized, and contains all mandatory business reporting elements.
- Official IRS header at the top with the OMB number and tax year clearly printed. The form number 'Schedule C (Form 1040)' appears prominently.
- The taxpayer's name and SSN (or EIN for partnerships) are consistently formatted and match the main Form 1040 filing.
- Both Part I (Income) and Part II (Expenses) are filled in with detailed line items. Gross profit or loss calculation shows at the bottom with a clear net profit or loss figure.
- The form is either printed on white paper with the official IRS design or is a digital PDF directly from the IRS website. Handwriting, if present, is minimal and legible (usually just signatures).
- Business name, address, and principal business code (from the IRS list) are correctly entered. The business structure is clearly indicated (sole proprietorship, partnership, or S-corp).
